With the IPL 2026 final set to be played in Ahmedabad, fans will be hoping for clear skies for the season’s biggest match. The good news is that the weather forecast looks largely favourable, with little indication that rain will disrupt the blockbuster clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans.

According to AccuWeather, Ahmedabad is expected to witness hot and dry conditions throughout the day, with only a two per cent chance of precipitation during the evening. Temperatures are likely to range between 39°C and 32°C during match hours, while rising humidity could bring dew into play later in the night.

Partly sunny conditions are forecast during the afternoon before clear skies take over after sunset. While rain is unlikely to affect proceedings, captains could keep a close eye on the dew factor, which may influence the toss and team strategies during the second innings.

What happens if rain interrupts the IPL 2026 Final?

Unlike other playoff matches, the IPL Final has a reserve day in place. If rain or any other interruption prevents the completion of the match on Sunday, play will resume on the reserve day from the exact point where it was halted.

In the unlikely event that the final cannot be completed even on the reserve day, the title will be awarded to the team that finished higher in the league standings.

That scenario would favour Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who topped the points table with 18 points and a net run rate of +0.783. Gujarat Titans also finished on 18 points but ended second due to their lower net run rate of +0.695.

Interestingly, while rain is not expected to impact Sunday’s final, Gujarat Titans recently faced travel disruption because of adverse weather. Following their Qualifier 2 victory over Rajasthan Royals, the team’s return to Ahmedabad was delayed after thunderstorms and heavy rain affected flight operations in Chandigarh.

RCB will be aiming to become only the third franchise in IPL history to successfully defend their title, while Gujarat Titans are chasing a second IPL crown.
